General Information

Thank you for your interest in our beer competition! This is a BJCP certified event, which is a part of the Bayou State Circuit and the Circuit of America. This is a great opportunity to showcase your beer, and also get valuable feedback from experienced beer judges. If your beer is good enough, you’ll also take home a medal or two to showcase in home brewery. We will be following the 2021 BJCP guidelines when judging beer, so be sure to select the correct style and follow the entry guidelines when submitting entries.

Entries will be accepted from February 1st, 2024 through February 24th, 2024. If you are ready to submit your entries, please use the competition entry page.

Accepted Styles

We accept all 2021 BJCP beer styles in categories 1 through 34 (excluding 34A), as well as the X category. This excludes category 34A (Commercial Specialty Beer) as well as all ciders and meads.

Entry Limits

There is a 300 entry limit for the entire competition, and a 5 entry limit per brewer across all subcategories. Each BJCP subcategory has a 1 entry limit per brewer.

Competition Rules

All competition entry information is listed here: https://bootbrewfest.com/comp/entry

Each entry will consist of solid color capped or corked bottles or aluminum cans that are void of all identifying information, including labels and embossing. If your beer has identifying marking on the cap, you may use a sharpie to black out the details.

12oz brown glass bottles are preferred; however, green and clear glass will be accepted. Corked and swing top bottles as well as unlabeled cans will likewise be accepted.

Entries will be excluded from medal consideration if the bottles are easily identifiable based on labels, colored caps, or any custom markings. See the image below for reference:

All requisite paperwork must be submitted with each entry and can be printed directly from this website. Entry paperwork should be attached to bottles using a rubber band only. Place the paperwork in a ziplock bag or other waterproof wrapper if there is a chance that the printed ink will bleed and potentially become unreadable. When shipping entries, take special care to wrap each beer with a protective padding (bubble wrap, foam padding, etc.) to reduce the risk of your submissions from being broken during transit.

Be meticulous about noting any special ingredients that must be specified. Failure to note such ingredients may impact the judges’ scoring of your entry.

Medals and Awards

We will be providing medals for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places for each judging table, including separate medals for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place Best of Show. These tables may include more than one BJCP category depending on total entries. All possible effort will be made to combine similar styles. All brews in combined categories will be judged according to the style they were originally entered in.
